Lori Grinker – Afterwar: Veterans from a World in Conflict – 2004
A collection of photographs and interviews with veterans of conflicts from around 30 different countries worldwide. The project was undertaken by Lori Grinker, a US photojournalist, over a 15-year period and spans frontline veterans from the First World War up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It details the physical and psychological impact of conflict, and was launched with an exhibition of colour photographs in 2004 in New York. The artist’s challenge was to make photographs that would transcend the personal tragedy of these individuals to become something universally symbolic and understood. Hardback, published by DEMO books in 2004. 246 pages. In very good condition.
