A fascinating memoir by a British officer who served in a senior position in the Egyptian police services in the 1920s and 1930s, focussed on the narcotics bureau. He became a prominent anti-drugs campaigner and was involved in efforts to combat the large quantities of narcotics being smuggled into Egypt at the time, authoring a well-known paper on the subject. Hardback, published by John Murray in 1949. Second printing of the 1945 first edition. 294 pages with 29 B&W photographs and three maps. Original jacket, not price clipped, with minor external wear and small closed tears to edges. Previous owner’s name to front endpaper.
