George Orwell – Keep the Aspidistra Flying – First Paperback 1962
A first printing of the first paperback edition of Orwell’s 1936 novel, set in London and an acerbic social comment on the pursuit of wealth. This was Orwell’s fourth book, coming between A Clergyman’s Daughter and Coming up for Air. He wrote the novel while working part-time in a Hampstead bookshop. Published in 1962 by Penguin, with illustrated card wrappers showing a photograph of a working-class street in London. In very good condition. Minor wear only, without major folds or creases.  264 pages.
