A charming and unusually well-preserved book of cookery and household management from Mrs Beeton, the Victorian writer who authored (as a pseudonym) a series of bestselling cooking and housekeeping guides that first appeared in the mid-1800s. With hundreds of recipes, tips on kitchen and household management, illustrated with colour and black-and-white photographs and sketches, plus lots of fun original advertisements from the period. This is an early 1920s edition published by Ward, Lock and Co. in London.  635 pages plus ads. Hardback, bound in decorative brown cloth with black lettering. Illustrated with several full-page colour plates and numerous other B&W sketches, as well as other features including tables of ingredients and measurements. In very good condition. Externally clean and bright with some minor edgewear and rubbing. No writing or marking inside. Binding tight and square.
