Nizar Qabbani – The Secret Diaries of Baheyya the Egyptian – 1979
An unusual collection of verse by the Syrian poet, written shortly after Egyptian president Anwar Sadat signed peace with Israel. The poems express deep anger towards the event, and were never printed again either as a standalone volume or as part of his collected works. Stapled booklet, 32 pages. Published in 1979 by Nizar Qabbani Publications in Beirut. In fair condition, marred by some children’s scribbles in blue pen to the opening pages and the rear board.
