Charles Bukowski – Barfly – Original Screenplay 1984
The original screenplay for Barfly, which was made into a 1987 film of the same name. Bukowski was commissioned to write the work by the Iranian-born Swiss film director Barbet Schroeder, who directed the movie starring Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway. It is a semi-autobiographical profile of Bukowski’s time spent drinking heavily in LA, and features a cameo from the author. The screenplay was released in 1984, three years prior to the film release, and features 20 drawings by Bukowski, depicting events from the book. Later editions showed stills from the movie. Softback, published in 1984 by Paget Press in the US. Black boards with yellow and light blue text. Minor edgewear and rubbing, no major folds or creases. Clean inside with no writing.
