A rare first printing of this early history of exploration in the inland areas of the Arabian peninsula, published in 1904. Titled in full as: A Record of the Development of Western Knowledge Concerning the Arabian Peninsula. It charts the journeys and accounts of various explorers, from the 1600s up to the late 1800s, illustrated with B&W photographs, maps and other features. David Hogarth (1862-1927) was an English author and explorer who went to work closely with Lawrence of Arabia in the Arab Revolt during the First World War. Published by Lawrence and Bullen in London. Hardback, bound in the original green decorative cloth, with gilt lettering and compass design on the front board. In good condition. Clean and bright boards, some fading and rubbing to spine. Two small previous owners’ inscriptions on front endpaper. 358 page including index.
