A very rare first edition of this classic and highly influential Middle East cookbook, one of the first such titles to comprehensively document recipes from across the region. The book introduced Middle Eastern food to a much wider range of western audiences in the 1960s and 1970s. It has numerous full-page colour photographs, as well as black-and-white sketches in the text. Written by Cairo-born Claudia Roden, who went on to author various other regional culinary books in the ensuing decades. Hardback, published by Nelson in London in 1968. 320 pages. Original jacket, which has some minor edgewear and a few chips, but overall in good condition. Clean inside.
