Boris Pasternak – Doctor Zhivago – First Edition 1958
A first English edition of this classic modern Russian novel by Boris Pasternak, famously adapted for the screen with Omar Sharif in the lead role. Doctor Zhivago was initially banned in the Soviet Union, and was first published in Russian in Italy in 1957. The first trade edition of the book was published a year later in the UK. This is the first printing, first edition, hardback, published by Harvill Secker in 1958, with the distinctive jacket design by John Woodcock. In good condition. Original jacket, not price-clipped, but fragile with some lateral tears along the spine edges, and other wear. Binding tight and square. No writing inside.
