A lavishly-produced and hard-to-find work on bread and breadmaking, designed for specialists and enthusiasts on the subject. Contains sections on ingredients, types of loaf and flour, dough, machinery and appliances, fermentation, manufacturing, baking, and more. With around 22 wonderful full-page illustrations, including two on silver bromide. Includes a detailed index and extensive original advertisements related to baking and breadmaking. First edition. Hardback, bound in the original dark green cloth with black patterned motif to boards and spine, gilt title lettering to front. Published by Maclaren and Sons in London. Not dated, but 1903.  In good condition, some bumps and marks externally, front hinge slightly loose but binding still firm and intact. No writing or markings inside. 360 pages, 24.1 x 30.5 cm. Heavy book that may require additional overseas postage costs.
