Original photographs of the Rulers of the seven Emirates – mid-1960s
A rare set of original photographs of the seven rulers of the Trucial States, prior to the formation of the United Arab Emirates, dated approximately 1965. Thought to have been taken by one of the official photographers working in the country at the time, Mohamed Badr, who was recruited for the post from Egypt by Sheikh Zayed. Each features a handwritten ink caption with the name of the Ruler and the Emirate. Comprises; Sheikh Shakhbut Bin Sultan Al Boofalah (Abu Dhabi); Sheikh Saeed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi (Sharjah); Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Dubai); Sheikh Saqr Bin Mohamed Al Qasimi (Ras al-Khaimah); Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Moala (Umm al-Quwein); Sheikh Mohamed Bin Hamad Al Sharqi (Fujairah); Sheikh Rashed Bin Mohamed Al Naeemi (Ajman). All in original dark-brown wood frames, mounted, with hooks to reverse. Total size 25cm x 20cm. Photographs sized 10cm x 15cm.
